Ralph Edmund Stanley (February 25, 1927 – June 23, 2016) was an American bluegrass artist, known for his distinctive singing and banjo playing. stanley began playing music in 1946, originally with his older brother Carter Stanley as part of The Stanley Brothers, and most often as the leader of his band, The Clinch Mountain Boys.
Bill Monroe (September 13, 1911 – September 9, 1996) was an American mandolinist who helped create the style of music known as bluegrass.The genre takes its name from his band, the "Blue Grass Boys", named for Monroe’s home state of Kentucky. I do enjoy blue grass, the familiar twangs and picking keeping my memories of home fresh. This collection of gospel blue grass hymns by Bill Monroe is one of the prettiest. His voice is sweet and emotional, making you feel the pitch of every note. I highly recommend on the grounds alone that this cd will bring tears to your eyes.
